Vaid waited until they had entered their rooms, and after Fiznak had fallen asleep, he snuck his bedroll out into the hall. He set up in the corner, out of the path of unsuspecting feet, and in view of Eliesanna's door.
Tentatively at first, he reached to Saidin. Then, embracing the Source with both relief and revulsion, he quickly wove threads of Air around his hiding spot, folding the light just so in order to shield it from view--at least as long as he remained fairly still. He tied the weave off and released the source and prepared for a long night. His weave should hold for quite some time. Eventually it would unravel, but this night would end long before that. Also, it shouldn't be any worse than sleeping on the ground, hiding in the woods. That is, so long as nothing happens.
Time went by and all Vaid could hear was the tick-ticking of the clock downstairs and the occasional rattling of the windows with every gust of wind coming off the ocean. Once he heard Fiznak turn in his bed, murmuring loudly something about his father and lightning. It was a windy night, though no rain. He yawned. The methodical tic tic ticking of the clock downstairs and his own weariness caused his eyes to start to droop. Angrily he pinched himself, and tried again. The minutes dragged by and still nothing happened. It was no use. Soon his head was nodding against his chest.

Downstairs, Maer fared better. He stood watch, peering outside the windows and staying in the shadows. He didn't dare sit or lie down for fear he might fall asleep. The common room was empty, so he paced, his eyes and ears ever alert to every sound. The crackle of the dying embers, the ticking of the clock. The windows rattled again, as they had a hundred times, but this time, there was something different. There was a tinkle of broken glass, followed by several muffled thuds drifting down from somewhere upstairs.
Cursing under his breath, Maer darted upstairs, taking them three at a time, he ran past Vaid's hiding spot dozing in the hallway of all places and slammed into Maeslyn's door. It creaked on its hinges. The noise caused Vaid to sit bolt upright, momentarily causing a shimmer in the screen of folded light he had woven. He wondered what was happening.
"Light! I'm coming, what is it?" Maeslyn called from inside, and unbolted the door, opening it, holding a small lit candle in her hand, she held one hand to her throat, clasping a robe about her. Maer took one glance inside, and seeing Maeslyn and Eliesanna safe and without harm, only said one thing, pointed into their room. "Your window is open." Then he darted further down the hallway to where Terise and Sabira kept their rooms and began to slam into the door.
Maeslyn's eyes swept over Vaid's hiding spot as she turned and moved back into her room. She peered at the window, it was slightly ajar, the shutters had been pried completely loose. With the door still open, she turned back inside and called for Elisanna to come quickly.
All the commotion caused Fiznak to awaken groggily.

ooc: Note, unless you tell me otherwise, I assume you sleep without armor--those who wear armor (Fiznak). So you don't have armor on right now Fizzy but you can hastily don part of it if needed or desired. Or you can always go with britches on and shirt off so that Maeslyn can see your manly muscles. :-)
Vaid con check:
3+3 = 6 fails and dozes
maeslyn con check:
2+3 = 5 and dozes
maer con check:
11+3 = 15 and stays awake
Notice check. Maer rolls 16+7 for 23 and hears the commotion
Vaid rolls 10-4 (modified for dozing) = 6 and hears nothing.
Fiznak is asleep and hears nothing.
Maeslyn hears nothing
