"Now tell me," Hadra queries. "What brings you here to Low Goldpine?"
"Your shade is like a gift from the Creator himself. I have little coin to repay your kindness, but I cannot tarry; a friend travels this road alone, and I must find her before any harm comes to her. I can only hope I find her alive and well; I hope I am not too late."
"Who is your friend?", Hadra asks, "Perhaps I can help."
You give Hadra Maeslyn's description, describing her shoulder length brown hair, steady dark green eyes, and her aloof yet commanding demeanor.
He rubs his hand over his well trimmed beard in thought.
"I believe fortune has smiled upon you, my friend," Hadra replies seriously and pulls out a creased envelope, handing it to you. "I believe this is for you."
You study the blue wax seal and can see the minute imprint of a serpent biting its tail impressed into the soft wax. You break the seal and can make out the neat, purposeful writing of a woman. While the letters resemble the writing you grew up with in the three-fold land, most of the symbols are written in a slightly different way, making it difficult to read without proper tutelage.
Through patient examination and with some help from Hadra, you make out the message.
The letter is dated two days ago.
Maer--
I trust you will eventually pass this way and have left instructions with Hadra and his wife to give this message to you should you ask after me. They are trustworthy folk. I hope that it reaches you well and that you have had success in your personal ventures.I had intended to travel with haste to Caemlyn, but a terrible storm bore down upon me with wind, rain, and lighting so fierce that I was forced to return and wait out the storm here in Low Goldpine.
I waited with anxiety to see you by today, but can delay no longer. As soon as this storm passes, I shall continue my journey with all haste. This accursed storm has cost me a valuable day.
Should you fail to reach me on the road, however, I will make for the Golden Stag inn in Caemlyn. Hopefully, you will be able to find me there. Safe travels. Until we meet again,
-- Maeslyn Al'Qieren
You thank the man and hastily stand up to begin gathering up your gear, but nearly swoon, as you become painfully aware of your unhealed wounds and your weakened state.
"Why don't you rest a couple of days," Hadra suggests, motioning to the bed. "You're welcome to stay here, until you're fit to travel."
